Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Sterols description

_Euterpe oleracea_ (acai) sterols are plant-derived, cholesterol-like compounds that work to replenish, soothe and hydrate skin. _Euterpe oleracea_ (acai) sterols come from the _Euterpe oleracea_ palm tree, also known as the acai palm. One of the star compounds of this ingredient is beta-sitosterol, a phytosterol that helps hydrate skin, reduce trans-epidermal water loss and soothe. Research also demonstrates that beta-sitosterol can assist in skin healing. In a 2014 report, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel deemed _Euterpe oleracea_ (acai) sterols as safe for use in cosmetics at current usage levels, but do not detail the current concentration levels of use. Despite this, the general recommendation if these sterols are one of the “stars” of a formula is 1–5% use level; not the star but instead just there to support? Then the use levels hover between 0.1–0.5%.
