The hydrolyzed version of _Caesalpinia spinosa_ gum is a derivative by method of hydrolysis. Cosmetic suppliers of _Caesalpinia spinosa_ gum tout its ability to provide a “non-sticky, non-stringy, and smooth feel to formulations.” It is also described as providing a soft, velvety after-feel. Hydrolyzed _Caesalpinia spinosa_ gum has been deemed safe by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel. Their report surveyed products containing up to 0.4% (high concentrations aren’t necessary for this ingredient to do its job).
